Labor’s plan to hold a referendum on Indigenous Voice to Parliament is set to undermine Australia’s democratic process. A Voice to Parliament for Indigenous people will only lead to a racial divide in our nation and drive us apart rather than bring us together. Also, these changes will remain in our Constitution for all time and cause irreparable harm, dividing us against ourselves. We need to call attention to the fact that a referendum campaign is just around the corner, and those responsible for driving a divided Australia have already begun.
“We are up against a 50,000 tonne dragon. I think the general public will say ‘if they (Aboriginal people) are split, why should we vote for it.’ I predict the debate will get angrier as we get closer to this referendum because the voices of everyday working Aboriginal Australians have been totally snuffed out.” –

Five reasons why Australia needs to say ‘no’ to the Voice
To Hon Anthony Albanese MP, Hon Peter Dutton MP,
As a proud Australian and active member of my electorate, I am writing to you today due to grave concerns regarding the proposed Voice to Parliament referendum.
This ill-conceived referendum enshrining the Indigenous Voice to parliament in the constitution is vague, undermines Australia’s democratic process, and will undo decades of work on reconciliation in one fell swoop.
A ‘Voice to Parliament’ for Indigenous people will only lead to a racial divide in our nation and drive us apart rather than bring us together.
Not only is there a severe lack of detail regarding the referendum, but there is also the real possibility of a further divide between black and white Australia. Rather than empowering Indigenous Australians, it is doing the opposite, and it will be impossible to represent an entire group.
I’m sure you’re aware that a Voice is unlikely to be enshrined in the constitution without a bipartisan consensus in favour. Eight of 44 referendums have ever succeeded in Australia, and the Voice proposal faces an uphill battle without such a consensus.
With this in mind, we’re asking you to OPPOSE THE INDIGENOUS VOICE TO PARLIAMENT and keep Australia united.
Thank you for your time, and I hope you seize this opportunity to stand with millions of Australians and stop the division.
Watch Indigenous Senator Jacinta Price explain why an Indigenous Voice to Parliament will only divide us as a nation.
